Overview
The KIDDOS organization is the only state based non-profit foundation in Nevada that provides orthopedic care, orthotic bracing and prosthetic devices to patients whose families are not financially capable to provide their children with the necessary treatment. Providing this care to children in our community and providing them a better quality of life through our foundation is our primary purpose.
Through the strategic partnerships we have developed with state local and national organizations, other foundations and the business community we are able to provide the best in orthopedic and prosthetic care to qualifying children across the State. Our highly qualified board of advisors reviews applicants on a monthly basis and makes determinations for qualified applicants based on a twelve-point qualification process. We then work hand in hand with the children and their families to ensure that all the services and procedures are completed to the individuals specifics.
Why KIDDOS
The continuously rising cost of healthcare and the decreasing amounts of reimbursements being paid by both private health insurance companies and federal programs like Medicaid have left children and families with an ever-increasing financial burden. These cuts in reimbursement have affected both preventative maintenance and rehabilitative care.
It is imperative that young patients receive all recommended services, in order to alleviate future conditions that can develop from lack of treatment. In addition to the probability of increased pain and suffering for the individual patient, lack of treatment for these conditions will create a greater financial burden on both the individual patient and the healthcare system, as a whole.
Over the past year, we have witnessed a decrease in the orthopedic services available to pediatric patients in Nevada. With only five specialized pediatric orthopedic surgeons and recent cuts in Medicaid coverage, patients in Nevada are left with few options for obtaining the highest quality orthopedic care and orthotic, prosthetic and therapeutic follow-up care. The professional Executive Board that we have compiled, as well as the relationships we have developed with medical professionals within our community are able to provide the highest quality treatment available in-state.
We have witnessed firsthand what a difference the best orthopedic care, combined with the appropriate follow-up, can mean for a child. However, the cost of this care is often prohibitive for families and insurance companies will likely choose the most cost-effective option, which is not always the best option for a patient.
Although KIDDOS is intended for pediatric patients, we do provide continuing coverage to any patients who may 'age-out' of this distinction. Any 'KIDDOS Kid' will continue to receive all the necessary follow-up care, even after they have turned 18 years of age.
KIDDOS intends to give children a leg up on life, by providing these essential and life-changing services, to patients whose families would not be able to otherwise afford them.
